As I sit here alone with Papaw at his house, I am reminded of the times when he would work on the weekends here in NC and I would get to stay with him on the garage apartment. We would watch Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street together. We would eat pizza and he would fall asleep in his recliner and me on the couch. One night, he fell asleep with a slice of pizza in his mouth, and I had to wake him up so he could take it out. He must have been pretty worn out that particular night. I loved being able to spend Friday and Saturday nights with him while he was building his house here. Although it was just down the dirt road, it was so special. I just finished a slice of pizza while he sleeps peacefully in the next recliner over, aided in his rest by morphine and the grace of the Almighty. Makes me want to find the remote for some Jason and Freddy.....
