As I sit here and think about tomorrow, what am I truly thankful for? Is it that I have a nice home, a very good truck, a good job, and I cannot leave out my three buddies, Koa, Gibbs, and peanut. Yes I am thankful for each and everyone of these, however these although they are important ,do not top my list. Sitting here looking at my wifes picture, I remember back to when Eve and I were married, how parts of our wedding ceremony could have made Americas funniest video, how not my beautiful bride to be cried, but how I came apart, as our friend and Pastor David Barnes, waited till I got a grip on myself, our ceremony continued. I remember all the good times we went through, I remember how at the end of my shift at then Bethania Hospitals ER I was standing there and Eve walks in, I ask her what she was doing, she said I came to get you, I then replied, Eve , I have a car, she broke into a hearty laugh, we all did. I remember how Eve and I would meet at IHOP on sundays when I was on shift, I would leave my car, we would leave in hers and go to walmart to just walk around for an hour until it was time for her to go to church and me to work, we would return, I would leave and she would leave, people must have thought we were having an affair. I remember moving to Biloxi, eventually going thru Katrina, moving here to Angelo. I am thankful to and for all these memories, that are neatly filed away, under happy joyous times, and I am thankful to and for Katie Moore, Eves daughter who allowed me to share her mom, to Chris Campanero, her son who shared his mom with me, and to Marie and Robert Rogers Eves mom and dad for allowing me to marry and care for their daughter, for trusting me to take care of her, to love and cherish her , and to Eves brother Rex Rogers, who would come to give His life to Christ, I am thankful, I am thankful to my mom Glenda Byars who was Eves secret pal at our Church, I jokingly say Eve and God plotted against me, she and God knew we would be married. I am thankful to my sons Matthew Hogue, and Aaron Hogue, who loved Eve as much as their own mom Debbie Trammell Hogue. Now as I look at Eves picture, and remember that night when she went to be with her Lord and Saviour, yes I am thankful, for that night as her suffering was very short, I am thankful to all the ER staff, who fought like hell to pull Eve back, and for the paramedics, Todd Compton, Joshua Kemp, the crew of Eng. 6, and others who I know by face, Even in this I am thankful, because I know I will see Eves face again. Yes as my first thanksgiving without my Love, my Companion, my Friend is upon us, I look back and remember, and I can say with all of my heart, yes! I am thankful. For my friends here, BA and Winkay Reed, for Lisa Meyer who opened her home to me that I could just get away and heal, for three very close friends, who I trust completely and totally, for my pastor Robert Bigouette, who stood with me in my blackest moment, and faithfully fought the good fight against his allergies to my cats, until I said pastor go home, Ill be fine, to our then Hospital Chaplian Jim Benson, who stood with me, and to Thuy C Turnbull (Cathy) who was charge, who shifted from being a charge nurse, to a dear friend who stood with me, when my life was poured out on the floor and broke into a million pieces. Susan Block, Rebecca Roberts-Green, Robyn Etheridge, Frankie Sewell, Susan Mathis, Amanda De Hoyos,, Casey Bennett Thankyou each of you so very much from the very bottom of my heart. . Yes I am thankful for so many things, for life lived, and shared, for laughter and tears, The turkey and dressing and all the things that come along with tomorrow, are just fringe benefits, Most importantly, I am thankful to My Father Papa, who has brought me this far, and I see Him daily in the lives of my closest friends, my co workers, , my companions. Yes I am truly thankful for many, many, things .I pray and ask that Father Papa bless each and everyone of you, beyond measure, Thankyou.
