As I sit here on December 31, I am once again examining my life. I have some advice for young people. If there is someone in your life that is good and kind and they treat you with respect and they love you, grab hold and dont let go. I am 50 years old and alone. I had opportunities. I dated some really great guys back in the day. (Yall know who you are). But because I wasnt ready to settle down and I didnt want to ruin a great friendship and other stupid nonsense like that, I am divorced for almost 20 years with no desire to remarry. You see, when I decided I was ready to settle down all those good guys had moved on. I settled for the next one that came along. Because of that one decision, I got to raise my kids on my own. Fortunately, I have an awesome family and my kids never really felt the absence of their father. The point I am trying to make here is: there is no such thing as a soul mate. You find someone that you care a great deal about and you work very hard everyday on that relationship. It then grows into something beautiful. Quit reading Fairytales and romance novels. That is not real life. Look around you, that person that always respects you even when disagreeing with you, that person that laughs at your corny jokes, that person you can tell anything to and they dont judge...grab them and cherish them and marry them.
