As I was leaving work today I saw a group of protesters (God Hates Fags) standing on the corner celebrating the death of Robin Williams (Robin In Hell) I felt angry for just a second. Then I felt sad. As I got closer I started to say something to them, something angry and spiteful. But I realized that is what they would want. They would just be confirmed further in their truth (delusion) of the correctness of their chosen faith. I looked at one one of the followers and saw her expression of certainty that she was indeed right in that her god indeed does hate fags. That all who do not believe as she did (they do) are going to hell. I then remembered that this is their right to say such hateful things; that they are protected by the same constitutional right to say what they want. But I also remembered that I do not believe as they do. I smiled. I said nothing (never argue faith with a zealot). I looked across the street as the light was about to change so I could make my way to BART, to see a short, muscular young man turn around and moon the protesters. I laughed and applauded his bravado as I crossed the street. Life in San Francisco.
