As I was tapping on my laptop at 5.00am yesterday morning, a profound and philosophical revelation swept over me. I agree…such phenomenon’s are rare but this “Me oh my hasn’t News week changed over the decades” was chanted like a mantra. From news snippets to food samples the entire content is totally different to the substance of yesteryears. Gone are the fat-free “diet” foods chock-a-block with additives and sweeteners and the current criteria is a cocktail of value for money, minimum ingredients, tasty, healthy(ish) and basic. As for the news round up…well….. aren’t we all learning what an obesogenic environment we exist in? Whether it’s what you wash your hands in, what you believe, what food outlets line your high street, who you socialise with and whose satiety genes you inherit weight loss is not, or so we are told, as simplistic as it was in the old days. Yet despite the scientific breakthroughs and psycho-babble( sorry Kass) my gut instinct is the old fashioned food, the old fashioned activity levels and the old fashioned clichés still carry much clout. Lets face it… is there really much gain without much pain? Is “a moment on your lips a lifetime on your hips” and “do little pickers wear big knickers?” Answers on an anthrax-free post card please! And well done "Annie get ya camera!" Anyone who not only cooks one of my concoctions, but dittos s few more of the same, takes photographic evidence AND then uses the proof as a backdrop for her weekly intake sheet deserves to lose more than 3.5lbs. She deserves to wake up size ten, wearing a Basque and dripping in Harry Winston bling! Well done you...even though you you were heartless about the beans! ps OK YOU WERE RIGHT!!!!!!
