As I was walking out of the gym tonight, that old familiar scent of ozone in the air. I cant exactly say it rained, but all the streets are shiny. Anyhow, I instantly thought of Ozone Baby and I was inspired for a second helping of Zeptember! Ozone Baby first appeared on the post-Bonham rarities collection Coda. It contains batches of unreleased and live stuff. The track was cut in 1979 in Montreux, Switzerland, along with a few other tunes that show up on Coda. Personally, I feel this track is not quite fully-baked, but having said that: There is much to like about this track: the gnarly sound of JPJs bass, along with the brash, almost-metal tone of Page make this one of Zeps most ferocious-sounding records. Im just not crazy about the production on Plants voice. Bonzo also sounds in fine thundery form. Ive got a 200gm vinyl edition and you would be amazed at how clean and huge this track can sound.
