As I watched our amazing team of teachers rally to put the finishing touches on report cards and progress notes I had a moment of questioning, as I often do, the point of report cards. As a society, are we relying on report cards as a measure of progress or reassurance? If the latter, do we ever wonder why or who we are reassuring? And if they do document progress, are we documenting anything that will mean something beyond this point? I believe OTA reports progress, describes learning and offers parents reassurance that we are working hard! Let me know what you think....does this report card really matter? If not, what would be better?
