As President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta boards that Hague bound plane - TopicsExpress

As President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta boards that Hague bound plane for the status conference at The ICC, many a Kenyan, especially his supporters from the Jubilee side are flabbergasted with the decision by The International Criminal Court to haul a sitting president to a conference which, in fact could have been conducted via video link. Speculation was rife that The President would defy the summons since he had support from the African Union and some local leaders, but the wise man in him elected to relinquish power and face his nemesis without putting the country into jeopardy. A courageous move indeed! However, the legal maxim of presumption of innocence until proven guilty should in this case comfort the country that our president will appear before the ICC judges and would be back in a matter of days. Personally, am happy that the country has shown overwhelming support for the son of Jomo but how I wish the same could be extended to our brothers and sisters who were killed, burnt, raped, maimed, dispossessed off their property and those still languishing in IDP camps both home and abroad (if Uganda qualifies as one). Days after the violence erupted, The then executive director for The Centre For Rights Education and Awareness (CREAW) Ann Njogu and the board chair prominent Nairobi lawyer Judy Thongori, had heard enough of the senseless slaughter of women, children and men and commissioned Kangu Productions to go on a fact finding mission. The stories I personally heard were to say the least horrendous and traumatising. Eventually, we produced a documentary that was aired in the local TV stations. In the interest of victims who at this time feel that theirs is a forgotten story...I share a short clip from that documentary courtesy of CREAW and her supporters on kanguproductions......go to Videos/ Kenyan Post Election Violence By Eric Abuga Founder Kangu Productions
