As the article states, it is already illegal in NC for cities and town to build their own public broadband/fiber networks. Thats thanks to telecom lobbying after Wilson, NC built its own network. RST, a private company, is luckily not limited by this law, apparently, but theres no saying cable companies wont turn on upstarts like this in the future.
