As-Salaam Alaikum, A true friend is a friend whose companionship is established for the sake of Allah. The Prophet, peace upon him, mentioned among the seven categories of people who will be shaded by the Throne of Allah on the Day of Judgment will be two people who loved each other for the sake of Allah. When friendship is established through Allah it is not qualified nor can it be affected by worldly motivations. Such friends are a source of support and enrichment for you, especially spiritual enrichment. One of the ways they enrich you is by praying for you when you are not present. They do not neglect you in this respect. This particular prayer is especially powerful. The Prophet, peace upon him, said, “The prayer for a Muslim for his brother in his absence is answered. Near his head is an assigned angel. Every time he prays for his brother he says, “Amin. You will have the same.” These are the people representing Allah’s religion on earth. Hence, they are deservingly known as the Party of Allah. Success will be theirs, and success will be for those they pray for. If we think that we know one of them we should try to remember to pray for him.
