As-Salaam Alaikum, We will not get to Allah without leaving something of this world. Allah says, You will never attain righteousness until you spend from that which you love. (3:92) So the key to righteousness is to spend—money, possessions, desires, clothing, habits, anything that we long for and is dear to us. This conditions us to keep the world and all of its possessions in perspective. In our system of spiritual purification, our adornment with the lofty characteristics of faith is always preceded by the cleansing or removal of old, undesirable qualities, actions, or characteristics. We read in the Qur’an, Whoever rejects the false god and then believes in Allah has grasped a firm handhold that will never break. (2:256)
