As Spring Comes To Alberta Oh how my heart sings out loud As Spring comes across this frozen land Another winter braved, which makes me proud As though I had once more stayed the devils hand Now at least for a little time I can go outdoors Without a parka, hat, scarf and boots Oh how emotion sails and soars As I see the women in their summer suits It is now time again to travel To explore places yet unseen As new adventures unravel Far away from where weve been I have found myself on decks of ships On highways with sixteen lanes So many life-renewing trips So many rides on jet airplanes But all in all the best thing About wandering far and wide Is knowing you want me to return and bring Myself back to stand once more at your side Its odd you know I once loved other women Even after you and I met But in all of them I never found anyone Who could make me so happy yet And now as our world renews itself After six long months of snow I sadly put you on the shelf Knowing you cant go But I will always come back here There is no way I can pretend That in any way I dont want you to be At all of my journeys ends Have faith my good friend formerly more Ill keep you close to my heart And Ill find a thing for you in some funny store To let you know we were never really apart Leif Gregersen March 9, 2014 My poetry archive is Valhalla Books on Facebook.
