As USAIDs Office of Food for Peace (FFP) celebrates its 60th - TopicsExpress

As USAIDs Office of Food for Peace (FFP) celebrates its 60th anniversary, we are working with partners to find innovative approaches to address food insecurity in Zimbabwe. In collaboration with its implementing partner, the UN World Food Program, USAID is supporting the use of mobile money to provide cash for food purchases in Gweru and Gokwe South, where beneficiaries are able to purchase food on the local market at reasonable prices to augment the pulses and vegetable oil that they receive from WFP. Innovative approaches such as the use of mobile money for cash transfers allows USAID to better tailor its assistance programs to meet the specific needs of food insecure communities to address hunger and nutritional deficits. usaid.gov/results-data/success-stories/first-time-mobile-money-food-assistance-program-reaching-zimbabweans
