As a US Peace Corps volunteer in northwest Kazakhstan for 25 - TopicsExpress

As a US Peace Corps volunteer in northwest Kazakhstan for 25 months during 1993-95, I literally did not have a hamburger or any fast food at all for this entire period. Hence, likely as a result, there is a spot on my brain which craves hamburgers/cheeseburgers/chicken sandwiches, etc. and today in coming to work and in a taxi driving past Beta Stores, I saw a brand new kiosk like stand there painted in the exact colors of Kentucky Fried Chicken with the letters “KFC” and my first reaction was I can’t imagine that KFC has opened up here, but then only to see in driving farther the wording “Kyrgyz Fried Chicken” - likely good chicken but not quite the same! Every time I see such things, I always regret in law school (since it is exclusively federal in the US and not on Iowa’s bar exam) that I did not take “Patents and Trademarks”, as it would come in useful in the CIS countries because of all the violations or quasi-violations. As I doubt that Colonel Sanders is getting any revenue from our new “KFC” :)
