As a business owner, I keep controversial things to myself out of respect for everyone. Im making an exception. I used to attend an elementary school in the Ferguson-Florissant school district. The same Ferguson you are seeing in the news. My school was a mix of white and black kids. I dont remember us fighting over race. We just played and acted like goofy kids. What in the hell happened to us? How did we let so much hate and anger cloud our hearts? I remember in particular a black kid named Raphael Fowler. I dont remember him for the color of his skin. I remember him for a cool Spiderman shirt that he wore. I remember him for a birthday party I attended at his home. He was just another human being. I didnt care what color he was. He was my friend. Its easy to jump to conclusions and feel the fury created by the riots, media and angry people. But is it helping? Taking sides will not fix this. We gotta get on the SAME side and realize that this is a human issue. That may seem to simplistic or utopian....but its obvious that business as usual isnt cutting it either. Please do NOT post about the incident in the comments. Im not looking for a debate on this issue. I am simply stating that we need more love and less hate.
