As a child care provider, you may have worked with families of children with disabilities or delays. Many of these children qualify for crucial regional center services to help them. Last week, I attended a workshop at Public Counsel which enlightened me on how to engage and help families connect with Regional Center services. The presenter was Brian Capra, a Staff Attorney from Public Counsels Childrens Rights Project. Brian is an expert in Californias regional center system with more than 13 years of experience representing families and children with developmental disabilities such as intellectual disability, and autism. He provided an overview of the regional center system, the application process and qualification requirements, how to access regional center services, and the process for resolving disagreements with a regional center.
