As a follow up to my last comment and about responding to teacher - TopicsExpress

As a follow up to my last comment and about responding to teacher questions in a supportive manner, I wanted to let you know that I never saw the responses to the pencil sharpening question until now and this one is a perfect example of the problem thats been occurring here. I was traveling all day on Thursday when the question went out and I never saw that over 300 people responded to that question. Many people had great ideas, but there were some really rude and judgemental ones, too. One problem appears to be that there are so many people who follow this page from all different backgrounds and who teach all different levels. You truly cannot judge someone until you have walked in their shoes. High school teachers should not pass judgement on elementary teachers and vice versa, especially if they have not taught children of that age group. Each grade level has its own problems and issues as well as its own joys. We all want our students to be responsible and keep up with pencils, but we also need to make sure that lack of a sharpened pencil does not hinder instruction and learning. I was really disappointed to read back through that thread and see how judgemental some people were, and I was glad to see that several people called them out on it. It would be a shame if I stopped being able to post questions because a few followers of this page are making others feel embarrassed or ashamed that they even asked the question. If anyone sees this type of response to a question and I dont seem to be aware of it, you can email me at facebook@lauracandler to let me know that I need to check the responses on a certain question. As I said, I will ban the people who respond this way, but its usually not the same people every time so its hard for me to monitor. Thanks! ~ Laura
