As a former Pastor, I and probably all other ministers/priests, - TopicsExpress

As a former Pastor, I and probably all other ministers/priests, have seen the best and the worst of things that happen in peoples lives and the best & worst of things people can do. To me, one of the worst of all possible things one can do is to use ones faith to justify horrible acts. In the extreme, the Ku Klux Klan claimed it was acting in Christian principles while it was killing and terrorizing other Americans. Today, a far, far milder, but hurtful means of abusing faith is for one to share with everyone because of his/her concern for the need for prayer for others. That is nothing more than a Christian way to justify gossip. If you are going to in one breath claim that others are your Christian Brothers and in the second share false and misleading information to make yourself look good, please dont think the first makes the second okay. It may actually work in the short term, but to use Gods name and reputation in a moment of desperation to mislead and manipulate others must leave God shaking his head to call you His. For those looking for ways to say Churches are filled with hypocrites, we many times provide them living proof they are correct. But, realize the church is not filled with perfect people. It is filled with those trying to find a better way through their lives by having a relationship with God. They will succeed. But, on certain days they will fail. That doesnt make them horrible. That makes them human. As their relationship with God grows, they hope their number of days of successes are far greater than the number of days of failures in their journey through this life. Dont follow those who use their faith to manipulate you. Support those whose faith makes you want to follow them. Dont allow the spiritual arrogance of those having a day of failure keep you from the day of success you deserve.
