As a former student, my earnest belief for what it may be worth is, if all lecturers and staff, many of which double up as managers too, on over £55, 000 per annum were mandated to give 10% to inform a pot to off-set student costs and inform more support and on-the ground staff; things would be a lot happier and student fees absorbed pro-rata more. Ditto all who attend the campus except disabled, to hand in their car keys and be issued with off peak bus and rail passes. It is surely a scandal that so many off peak buses, coaches and trains have spare seats and students face punity of confinement, car costs or just not the freedom which could make a critical difference to learning a joy or slog for slogs sake! The campaign is long over-due and maybe fanning a new dawn of shared interests cooperatives to be a small part of the solution going forward and maybe hand over post-grad or develop... remember Endsleigh?!
