As a lot of you have probably have heard by now, a young girl committed suicide last night because her family put her through hell because she was transgender. Ive seen posts about it ALL over Tumblr today and see it on the trending bar on the side here as Im typing this. In all the craziness of what I have read/seen today about her death, this news cast got things right (except the part of them referring transgender people to transgenders, but that isnt a big issue, just a simple mistake). News casts, papers, her schools website and her mother (she made a FB post about it) misgendered her, but not this news cast. They used the right gender AND the right pronouns. They even mentioned how her parents treated her after she came out and that they were wrong for doing so. I give so much thanks to this news cast for addressing this properly and getting the true information out to the public about this incident. Let her death mean something. Let her death raise awareness of harm that is placed on the trans community. Let her death not be in vain. youtu.be/Lt8UT6JAoLs
