As a lot of you who know me already know, I have been doing a ton - TopicsExpress

As a lot of you who know me already know, I have been doing a ton of research on health and on a healthy diets and exercise. Eat to Live, The China Study, and literally hours and hours of reading related to these kinds of things. What many of you do not know is that around the first of last year, I was diagnosed with Diabetes, High cholesterol, Blood Pressure, and in my mind pretty much death, as if I did not make some serious changes, I worried that BECAUSE OF MY CHOICES, I would not grow old with my wife or my sons may not have a father. Anyway, for those of you that are bored already, please just watch this, and all the videos associated with it on TED. Dan Buettner: How to live to be 100 on TED: ted/talks/dan_buettner_how_to_live_to_be_100.html I stumbled across the video today, which I wish I would have seen this and some of the videos earlier, as it would have saved me some time and lead me to ideas. This video kind of summarizes what I did by simply using Google to find out who in the world lives the longest without diseases and what they do? It was very confusing, and I still get conflicting information, but you will find no Atkins, South Beach, Jared at Subway, No calorie or point counting that allows you to smoke your “food crack” and “not exercise” now and again. None of those things that folks have short time success with have ever worked are proven to be long lasting for more than 1-3%. No push for medications or gene alerting process that FIX you. This is a life style change that I need to keep, and as there ARE places where people not only live longer, but die without being on medications and disease, these are the KINDS of things I need to surround myself with. These are places that have five times as many centenarians as the US, have one-fifth the rate of breast and colon cancer, and one-sixth the rate of cardiovascular disease. Believe it or not, it is estimated by many reports, this one included, that only about 7-10% of what we die and hurt from is due to heredity or “things running in the family”. It is what we choose for ourselves and worse for our children, that determines this. Everywhere in the world they have percentages of disease, but not like us. Here is the one that really rocked me. In the US, we used to call Type II diabetes, the kind I have, “age related”, but no more, as 40% of new cases in OUR nation, we gift to our children! I am not saying that there are not healthy people in the US, or that plenty of folks who are doing the right thing, but generally there is really nothing healthy about our country and worldwide we pretty much rank LAST of all developed nations in what some call “diseases of wealth”. On the “Piggy Meter” North America has 34% percent of the world’s biomass or (FAT GLOB) we call obesity, yet it only makes up 6 percent of the world population. Asia, on the other hand, has 61 percent of the world population yet only 13 percent of its biomass due to obesity. While the U.S. is only one of several countries that make up North America, they are the ONLY North American nation to rank in the fattest 10 countries on THE PLANET! Anyway, I am far from perfect now and still make mistakes, but in the last 10 months, I’m down from about 250-257 to a little less than 200, about to finish over 3000 thousand miles of biking this week, and have put all of the numbers in what my doctor calls the “excellent ranges”. I have about 20 more pounds to go, and I will likely be able to remove ALL medications to include metformin and my blood pressure med. Per my doctor, I will no longer need ANY medications, as I have nearly reversed Diabetes. Also, I am about to get rid of Vitamins, Asprin, Tums, and pretty much everything, as I just don’t have indigestion, headaches, stomac aches anymore, and all I used is the world wide web! Anyway, check out TED: ted/
