As a man who does daily battle with worry and anxiety, I have been given multiple books, articles and, everything else about what a waste of energy worrying is. One person told me, worrying is like paying interest on a debt you dont owe. I thought that was the best saying I had ever heard, but today, I was given a poem that might be even better. It reads, Now that all your worry has proved such an unlucrative business, why not find a better job. 99% of the time, I cant figure out exactly what Im worrying about. Its called free-floating anxiety and its definitely not a beauty. But yesterday and today, I know that the surgery im going to have on Friday morning is the source of a lot of my anxiety. Ive got to get up at 3 AM so I can have a cup of black coffee. Have a shower using anti-baterial soap, dress, and be at the hospital at 6 AM. I feel fortunate that I have the first surgery slot because it gives me less time to worry Friday morning, but Ive done plenty of worrying in the last 48 hours. Thanks for all the support and good wishes. Ill be at home this weekend as the doctor says I wont feel like doing anything besides lying down. My friend and assistant Shelly Collins is due to post my Friday drawing as I wasnt sure Id be up to the task. The Friday drawing is a shoutout to Shelly and Jay Murrie, both of whom are celebrating birthdays on Friday.
