As a nurse, I try to stay well informed about current health - TopicsExpress

As a nurse, I try to stay well informed about current health issues. Most of you know that I am critical and cynical about the flu vaccine. This post is just the opposite about the Ebola virus. Because I get passionate about things, and speak loudly regarding my opinions, I encourage everyone to check my information on the World Health Organization Web page and other references. The CDC goes to a lot of effort to encourage people to get the flu vaccine every year. The mortality rate for the flu, as I have said in earlier posts, and can be confirmed by checking the numbers on the CDC web site, is about 0.0001%. The mortality rate for the Ebola virusS (Yes there are more than 1. There are actually 5 of them.), is over 90% if left untreated and between 50-75% if treated depending on the treatment used. As of today, there are 2 million in quarantine in Sierra Leone. Can you imagine the logistics of restricting the travel of 2 million people telling them they have to stay in a city where 2/3s (Imagine standing in a circle of 2 other friends or family members, and saying good-bye to them because 2 of you are dying) of the population is dying from an illness, ...but you cannot take your children out of the area. I dont know about anyone else reading this, but I would gather my children up (Even the sick one), and get the hell out to search for healthcare. (The hospitals there are full. Literally. Everyone is encouraged to go home and die like a good Republican.) Id buy a plane ticket to the US, or Europe. My point is this is bad and they (Media) are not telling us everything. I know how difficult it is to get your head out of the sand when there is too much technical information at once, so I will stop at this point. So go back to sleep and when dreams of World War Z wake you, come back and look for more information on this.
