As a part of a sustainable Green Initiative, Essar Steel (EStIL) Hazira has put into practice the concept of ‘ Shramdaan Plantation‘, whereby employees and Associate staff are encouraged to ‘donate’ (‘daan’) time and labour (‘shram’) to plant trees near their work areas. By the end of the most recent ‘shramdaan’ event, the Hazira teams had planted 40,000 tree saplings, during the year 2013-14, thus increasing the total area under greenery from 240 acres last year, to 278 acres now.
