As a pastor, I have officiated at many funerals for people whose eternal destiny was in question for lack of a relationship with Jesus and His sacrifice for our sin. In each case I have had to be compassionate and loving. No matter who the deceased turned out to be, someone loved him/her and to be anything but compassionate and loving would have constituted cruelty. In that light, if my Christian brothers and sisters can think of nothing compassionate to say about Robin Williams death, could you please say nothing? Some of the judgmental and heartless comments Ive read serve only to discredit our testimony and turn people off to listening to us. The time to confront someone with the issue of their eternal destiny is BEFORE they die, not after. Please dont wound the hearts of those who loved this man. They need the Fathers touch.
