As a person who has lived in and escaped a communist country, leaving my family behind without knowing when Ill get to see them again, I find this new approach to Cuba outrageous to say the least. The Cuban people has been oppressed for more than half a century by the same government, controlled by the same people. They are tortured, exploited and censored in several ways, every single day. Venezuelans are reaching the same point. However, Obama and his administration are sending a message to the regional tyrants saying that as long as they dont kill a hostage, there will always be negotiation. This policy of accommodation that this administration has goes against the ideals of freedom and justice that the United States has always stood up for. This is, without a doubt, a slap in the face for those of us who have experienced and are still dealing with the horrors of Communism.
