As a personal trainer, I am definitely involved in the fitness - TopicsExpress

As a personal trainer, I am definitely involved in the fitness industry. I follow all the famous fitness professionals on social media and I follow all the amateur professionals whom compete here in Australia. I follow them because I was inspired by them. If they could do it, I could too. I envied their bodies, I envied their strengths, accomplishments, I believed their encouraging words about being strong and I always found myself going through their photos wishing and praying I looked like them. Now Im starting to think this is all wrong. I go through these pictures and its girls in short shorts and a crop showing off their abs, hell Im in a bikini and showing off my body. I sit here and wonder if Im influencing negative body image issues to other girls out there. I struggle day in and day out with the way I look. I dont look like those girls with ripped abs or amazing biceps. I continually envy their bodies and now I am sick of it. I dont want to give girls this wrong impression either. These fitness professionals have every god damn right to post pictures of their bodies because Im sure they have worked their asses off. They deserve recognition just like everyone in the world. Im just wondering what the fitness industry is trying to portray. Are we saying that a lean body is healthy? Because no it doesnt mean healthy. Are we saying that abs are healthy? Because no abs arent necessarily healthy. Are we saying you can only eat chicken and veggies? Because no that isnt healthy. Are we saying an hour of fasted cardio is healthy? Because too much cardio is harmful. I really want everyone to figure out what works for you! You dont have to cut out carbs to get abs, you dont have to smash out gym everyday nor do you have to compare yourself to others. You are your own unique person who has beautiful traits. Focus on these and what YOUR goals are and try and not envy your idol, they are human with flaws too you know. You can get there too. Start to love yourself on the inside and wonderful things will start to happen. Take each day slowly, celebrate every small victory wether its not opting for that dessert or going for a 10minute walk. Its still a POSITIVE outcome. A positive mind leads a positive life. If you are having any issues please dont hesitate to talk to a friend or get help. No one will judge you. I sure as hell will admire you for finally focusing on yourself for a change. This is your life and happiness is key to a healthy one. X
