As a quadriplegic who stands for equality in society, I need to know that Id be held accountable and punished like everybody else should I commit a crime. I also need to know that if anyone I know or love became the victim of a criminal with a disability that justice would be served, meaning that the criminal couldn’t use his/her disability as an excuse to avoid sentencing. In the interests of justice, Correctional Services should have a facility that can accommodate all kinds of disabilities. All offenders, irrespective of abilities or disabilities should be able to serve out their sentence in a safe and humane environment to ensure proper rehabilitation. If we cant achieve the above, our society is doomed.
