As a school system we provide gifts and food for Christmas Cheer and other community organizations in outlying areas as well as managing to take care of our own students during the holiday. This is just one example! This is the third year that Meadow View Elementary School has sponsored a Giving Tree to gather gifts and food to provide a wonderful holiday for less fortunate students in their own school. Angela Thomas, the school counselor at Meadow View said this year surpassed the previous years in the number of recipients. Additionally, the sponsors this year have increased in both numbers and type. While the majority of their sponsors continue to be our very own hard working teachers and staff, they also had classrooms who sponsored students and community members who helped out as well. The response this year has just been tremendous, and we are excited that students, whether they were receivers or givers, received a blessing from participating! she said. Those who were givers learned the value and benefits of giving to others, and it provided a wonderful service learning opportunity. We are excited that we are able to provide this service for our students.
