As a way of raising funds in order for us to continue to spread words of the danger of the Ebola hemorrhage Virus and reach out to more communities, Girl Up – Liberia have decided to channel it’s charity work through the use of the Ice bucket challenge. The Ice bucket challenge commonly known as the ALS ice bucket challenge, is an activity that involved the dumping of a bucket of ice water on one’s head to promote awareness of the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and encourages people to donate to that cause for research purpose. The origin of this idea is yet unknown but has however been attributed to multiple sources back in the United States of America beginning from mid-2013 to the early part of this year. In early 2013 it was called the “cold water challenge” and was carried out in order for people to donate money towards cancer research. Today it is the Ebola hemorrhage Virus that is killing our people on the increase and I encourage each and every one of us to donate to this cause, so that together we can all fight against the virus. THIS IS HOW IT IS DONE: It all starts with a team, each person that takes the Challenge Nominate Three Other Persons and Donate Minimum of $5USD (equivalent LRD) or more. In a case where a person is nominated and decide Not to Take the Challenge, that person pays a Minimum $50USD. The Challenge must be done through Video Recording and Uploaded to any social media and tagged to Girl - Up Liberia. Please send all money donations to the Mobile Money account: 0886068134 or call the following numbers 0770800390/0888517240/0886838380. You can better still donate items such as Soaps, Hand Sanitizers, Chloride, Chlorine, Buckets and Other Materials that are used in combating the virus.
