As always (well, frequently), hoping this will do someone some good on the 2nd Sunday of Ordinary Time: Introduction to the mass (maybe TMI? but some folks dont get enough I): My friends, we celebrate today the beginning of “Ordinary Time,” which simply means that the Sundays of the year are numbered in order. But we might also be glad that we celebrate a God who meets us in the ordinary days of our lives, our neighborhood, as he did to Andrew, our work, as he did with Simon Peter, and even in our sleep, as with Samuel. Let us be grateful for ordinary time and for the God who fills it with possibility, as we ask the Lord for mercy and peace. Prayer to close the intercessions: God of all people, in every age you call upon your chosen to make a straight path through chaos and wilderness for the return of the poor, lost, and sinful to you. We have heard the call of Jesus in our gospel today: let every minute of our lives become and answer to the prayers of those who thirst for peace, justice, and security. Amen.
