As always when we have severe weather, lots of discussion tonight - TopicsExpress

As always when we have severe weather, lots of discussion tonight about sirens. No Tornado Warning was issued by the National Weather Service for the Canfield tornado and therefore there was no siren. Ideally, all tornadoes are warned ahead of time, but the truth of the matter is that the science is just not there yet. Despite tremendous advances in technology, some tornadoes will go unwarned. Especially very brief ones like we had in Canfield, where radar data indicating a tornado was only apparent for a few minutes. Sirens are a fine SECONDARY warning system for most people. It should be very few peoples PRIMARY warning apparatus. Text alerts, NOAA weather radios and many other things are much better means to stay on top of the weather.
