As an employer, I can say that if a colleague of mine has a family emergency, I will not hesitate to give him/her days (or even weeks off) to settle their problems. I feel that leave days are for employees to take to spend QUALITY time with their families - not for emergencies. Cos if I worked for someone, I want to be treated that same way too. We cannot place a value on giving people happiness and I would much rather give happiness than add misery. Without employees, bosses and companies are nothing.
