As an intern at the Alzheimer’s Association, CNY Chapter, I will - TopicsExpress

As an intern at the Alzheimer’s Association, CNY Chapter, I will be attending Legislative Action Day in Albany to advocate for multiple aspects of legislation related to Alzheimer’s disease. In the past, advocates who are caregivers for people with dementia have been underrepresented because of caregiving demands. In response to this, I will be compiling stories and testimonies from caregivers and presenting these stories to the assembly and senate. The stories will be separated according to specific and current legislation that could impact these families directly. Advocacy and public policy does not always require physical presence. If you know of anyone who has been impacted by Alzheimer’s disease and would be interested in sharing their stories, please give them my information. I can be reached at: [email protected]. As our population ages, the public health issues related to aging are increasing at an unsustainable rate. Alzheimer’s disease is one of the most underfunded public health issues in the United States: It is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed. We can help this public problem become a national priority. Advocacy does not have an age limit. Please share and/or contact me!
