As any of those who know me know well, I dont do bad music - TopicsExpress

As any of those who know me know well, I dont do bad music reviews. Because I feel its our job as music writers to celebrate musical greatness and to illuminate non-musicians especially about why great musicians are great. I know a lot of so-called music critics disagree, and attempt to distinguish themselves with misinformed and often shallow castigation. But none so low as the Los Angeles Times own Randall Roberts, who in a snarky kvetch about recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame + Museum inductions called Ringo Starr a B-grade rock drummer and Lou Reeds solo work as mediocre. Of course, as those who know anything about music know, Ringo is the greatest drummer of all time. Thats him playing on those Beatles records, you know!! Just his part on Rain or Come Together alone shows a genius at work. Ask Tom Petty or Jim Keltner or Lenny Kravitz about Ringo - as have I - and they will agree. Best ever. As for Lou, his solo work - especially New York - far surpasses his seminal work with The Velvet Underground. It is pure, timeless, inspired genius. I suggest Mr. Roberts seek other employment as he doesnt have the insight or knowledge to do this work well. He has shamed our profession.
