As both a defense lawyer and a plaintiffs lawyer I have had many - TopicsExpress

As both a defense lawyer and a plaintiffs lawyer I have had many clients who fit this description. The issue is broader than just issues related to a car wreck, of course, but Ive seen that play out, painfully, up close: the wreck led to property damage that they were not insured for (as its not required by law), or prepared to pay out of pocket. Or the other person is at fault, and their insurance offers to pay for the total loss value - BUT the client is WAY upside down since they bought the vehicle from one of those terrible places that finances a vehicle at 20-30-50% more than the actual value - so, the person who got their car totaled at not fault of their own now has no car and not enough money (not even close) to pay it off. Guess what? that SUCKS. Then, without a vehicle and/or because of an injury, they miss work a shift or two and lose their job. Guess what? Losing your job SUCKS. I have learned over the years that many folks are rich and removed enough that conversations about these folks elicits arguments about entitlement-attitude and eye rolls. So, I keep quiet, do my work advocating on their behalf and - Ill be reading Ms. Tirados book over the day or two I take off around xmas. Let me know if youre curious, too, and want me to send it your way when Im done. I will now dismount from my soapbox (and stick the landing). :)
