As could be expected Miss Universe NZ receives a number of general - TopicsExpress

As could be expected Miss Universe NZ receives a number of general questions and queries from prospective contestants and parents each week in relation to all sorts of pageants and competitions, not just our own, in that regard I am prompted to share the following with you all. Last week 2 notorious pageant-land organisers teamed up in the South Island, (one whose pageants constantly make it into the news media for all the wrong reasons,) to crown a winner in a competition that although rather confusingly although advertised for much of this year, never actually took place. The organiser has an explanation, however implausible, she always does. The same 2 people then quietly awarded another title to the daughter of one of those organisers, again without any sort of competition. Both of these titles will involve a trip overseas to supposedly represent New Zealand. However without any sort of competition one can only wonder about the credibility of any claim that these contestants are in fact representing anyone. Next, Miss Universe was contacted, by a number of upset contestants, in regard to a pageant held in Auckland last weekend where it would appear that the eligibility of a number of contestants to even enter was questionable, there was residency clause that related to the O/S aspect of the comp. that was quite simply ignored, basically this meant that some of those entering couldnt actually win - although they didnt know it at the time - where have we seen this before ? In the final outcome the organiser crowned her sister-in law as the winner, against her own rules ... and YES this winner will now travel overseas. In this instance we will be following through to see that the money donated in cash by other contestants to a Wellington based Childrens charity is actually executed upon. However the point of this message is that I am reminded of my comments on TV3 News a couple of months back, where I suggested that contestants need to be VERY, VERY careful before entering competitions, they MUST do their research. It is a case of buyer beware - if it looks too good to be true then it probably is. The contestants and prospective contestants who contacted Miss Universe around both of these competitions all said that they had concerns from the outset and in our opinion, they should have probably listened to that inner-voice, if it doesnt feel right, then give it a miss ! However if you do want to enter a REAL competition, that has proven transparency and integrity then register NOW for FREE for Miss Universe New Zealand 2015, its worth the wait. Entries are open and we will guarantee that the experience will be one that you will remember for the rest of your life. Please feel free to share this post. Find out all about us at nexmissnz
