As far as I can tell, Apples iPhoto apps for Macs and iThings simply cannot be used together for photo organization. Tags and ratings in iPhoto for the Mac appear to be completely invisible to iPhoto on an iPad. And the slightest change to a photo on the iPad, even a single tag or a tweak to the exposure, has to exported from the app and then imported as a new photo. If you have more than about a dozen photos to organize, this is a deal breaker. Basically, Apple seems to be saying, without actually documenting it anywhere, that you should really organize photos in one environment or the other, not both. Im not certain of this yet, but it sure looks like this is how it works. And, if so, what a usability train wreck.
