As far as I know, Im dying only in that same way that most of us are, the way in which the relentless march of time creates entropy and causes things to stop working so well, or perhaps a coding mistake creates cells that divide far faster than they should. Thinking frequently about my own end makes me appreciate the present even as the calendar pages flip and flip and flip, or as some mysterious creature eats my stash of jellybeans. When there are only a few left, days, jellybeans, hours, I hope I can still appreciate the quality of the here and now far more than the often-empty promises of yet more tomorrows from a health care system that, despite the growing hospice trends, still lives largely in the Fantasyland of Mortality Denial.
