As far as landmarks, They are important as they tell a story…..but this landmark will NOT be missed….I was 15 or 16 years old, and since I only had sisters, the rivaly between brothers was encouraged.In fact I did a lot in instigating the advancement of this encounter. Again, since I have NO brothers….I thought I was exempt…got a “ Free Pass”…”Diplomatic immunity”…And my accomplishments in track I could motivate my friends on speed and agility.Brotherless I was free to be a spectator. There were the Cunningham Boys, Joe and Mike ( Jethro). The Kuwamura’s Ken & Jeff.There was the Gonzales, Jerry & Danny,and the Baker boys,Pat and Larry. Right from the start my FIENDS(friends)…scrambled leaving me a “Sitting duck” as their older brothers, Joe, Jerry and Pat tied me to that large ( landmark) tree on Sunnycrest. I waited kicking and scream ..” I DON’T HAVE A BROTHER!!!...I DON’T HAVE A BROTHER!!! while passerbys….slowed down and drove away.Apparently this was NOT a Brother thing…...But Hopefully my TRUE fiends( FRIENDS) who were like BROTHERS to me would attempt to rescue me. And I waited…..And I waited. Periodically they would drive by and ask where their brothers were….Never asking how I was doing….while flashbacks of the old westerns filled my head. And the shadow of the Indian Chief over me,while I am tied spread out on the ground with the sun grilling down on me.Then he releases the bag of Rattlers.I looked to the sky to see if any vultures were circling…I focused on the empty rural acre lot between the Baker’s and Tennyson’s properties. The Donkey Lady may have made her way further down Bandera Road. No one’s heard of her (even to this day)…So I worried….still NO rescue…Okay guys it’s dark NOW and hours have passed…this would be a great opportunity to attack…..and RESCUE ME!!!….Hello?…anyone?....I could hear crickets…..SO THERE ARE NO TEARS FOR THE LANDMARK…..many years have gone by and everytime I would drive by it, I cursed It…..NOW I can SMILE and Laugh…….VENGENCE IS MINE…and I’d like to imagine screams coming from it as the chainsaw chopped it up…..!!!!...who holds grudges?....I guess I’m Thankful I have sisters.
