As far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us. -Psalm 103 12 (ESV) Thoughts on Today’s Verse What a glorious hymn of praise David penned – for though originally written to rejoice in the everlasting faithfulness of the Lord towards His people Israel, this beautiful verse is as relevant today for the Church as it will be in the eternal age to come – for every man and woman who has ever trusted in the Lord Jesus – the Saviour of the World. The universe we are told is expanding and the bible indicates that the earth is in the centre of God’s universe – but by the grace of God, through faith in the Lord Jesus, every single – sin, past, present and future, has already been removed as far as the east is from the west, for so far does He remove our transgressions from us…. and they will be remembered again – no more. Hallelujah It is by the grace and mercy of God that the burden of sin that we all carry and which condemns us to eternal death and hell has been lifted…and the barrier of sin, which excludes us forever from the presence of our God have been removed. Christ paid the price for our sins and Christ broke the power of sin in our lives and God in His grace and mercy has taken every one of those foul thoughts, words and deeds and flung them forever into the outer limits of extremity. If God has done this marvellous deed and separated us forever, from our sin – should we not accept as fact that there is now NO condemnation to those that are in Christ Jesus and not keep trying to win His favour. Should we not in humility of heart and poverty of spirit accept God’s gracious free gift of salvation – for as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
