As if being a part of one of our Final Four matchups was not enough, today is also Simon Kentons birthday! He was born in Prince William County, Virginia on April 3, 1755. Kenton left Virginia because he believed he had killed a man in a fight. It turned out later that the man was only severely wounded. Because of his service with George Rogers Clark and throughout the American Revolution, Kenton was awarded over 100 acres of land in the new territory near the modern dividing line between Scott and Clark Counties. Kenton also served under General Anthony Wayne in the Northwest War in 1793-94 and participated in the Battle of the Thames in 1813, the battle that claimed Tecumsehs life.
