As long as you dont know who you are in reality and who is your real well wisher, you will consider yourself as body and your relatives, friends and family as your well wishers. This is only an assumption about yourself and others. Only when you know that you are a soul and your only relation is with the Super Soul, your assumption is replaced with this divine knowledge. Once the reality about yourself and your eternal relation with God is established, the real devotion starts in your life. That is called Parabhakti and it is the after effect of divine knowledge and expressed in the form of unalloyed love for God. This is the ultimate goal of life. Narada Bhakti Sutra deals with Bhakti - both as a means as well as the goal of life.
