As many families prepare to spend the holidays with others, it may - TopicsExpress

As many families prepare to spend the holidays with others, it may be beneficial to create a list with your child of expectations. For example, yesterday during a session with a 2nd grader, we created a list highlighting the following: how to act, what we should say, and what we should do during different holiday situations (driving to a family members house, opening gifts, eating family dinner, etc.). You may want to talk about what your child can say and do if they receive a gift they already have, a gift they dont like, or if they dont receive the gift they asked for. We often expect children to know what to do in these situations, but a simple discussion and some role-playing can really help your child better understand what to do in these moments. ~Marena Mitchell, Speech-Language Pathologist bringingtherapyhome
