As many of you know, I am generally down for a good ol debate on Facebook. There are, however, rules: 1. If you claim to educate the masses, spell correctly and use proper grammar. 2. Arguing and debating are not synonyms. Debating involves at least a working knowledge of the subject, whereas arguing implies a five-year-old shouting your stupid [sic]. 3. The opposing viewpoint may have some valid reasoning. You may disagree with their basic belief, but analyzing why they feel as they do will help you a) see where theyre coming from, b) reinforce your own opinion, and c) help you further your own side, now that you have their kryptonite. 4. Know when a nut is a nut. If someone calls you small-minded or racist or ignorant (generally out of context, of course), let it go. After all, this person lives on the other side of a computer, and has to spend every-damned-day being their ironically small-minded self. 5. Have fun and stop being so goddamned serious all the time. Pick some flowers.
