As many of you know, for many years my wife, Nancy, has focused her life toward helping fill critical needs in Africa. While visiting Rwanda last summer, we visited a pygmy (Batwa) community, which has been marginalized by society. The Batwa have been relocated by the government to a district without any water. When clean water is provided, it lessens disease. Attendance rises in schools because children are healthier. They dont have to walk for hours to fetch water, carrying jugs atop their heads. Girls are no longer in jeopardy of rape because they dont have to travel alone to look for water. Students can study during daylight hours and not under candlelight at night. Economies flourish in communities with clean water, as people move to where there is water. Also, the Batwa earn their living by making clay pots. Water is needed to make clay pots. It has taken almost a year to get international Rotary Club partnerships in place. The Rwandan sanitary and hygiene organization has gone to great lengths to do engineering reports and draw up plans. Construction is ready to begin. Everyone has been vetted. Today, with some very generous donations having already been made, Nancys not-for-profit effort to build a well to solve these problems for the Batwa people is short by only $1,500, but time is fast running out to get this well underway and completed. As such, Nancy needs your help. Anything you can donate to this humanitarian effort will be greatly appreciated, needless to say. Donated money is completely tax deductible and the donor(s) will be provided with tax receipts. If you would like to help, please reach out to Nancy directly at: nancyuslan@gmail
