As many of you know, since September I have been following the story and actively been involved in the situation of a dog named Beau , a yellow lab mix, incarcerated by the City of Dyersburg TN. The animal was basically seized, declared vicious under the Citys ordinance and scheduled for euthanasia back on October 21st by a Judge who conducted the procedure without due process and a City that has hired and spent over $20000 in taxpayer money for outside lawyers to fight the appeal process under way being provided pro bono by attorneys for the dogs almost indigent owner. Over 600000 people from around the world have signed a change.org petition to release Beau and there are so many posts on the Please Help Beau Facebook page that it is difficult to follow. A retired Civil Rights lawyer in Memphis TN, who I have spoken to, has determined that a City the size of Dyersburg TN , under TN State law , cannot legally write, implement or enforce their own laws, but must follow TN State law.( known as a Dillons Rule State ) The legal process she is handling regarding the legality of the Dyersburg ordinance is being stonewalled by the City and maybe higher county courts because of its far reaching implications when one considers the damages the City may owe for years of illegally administering their own ordinances and collecting fines and or disposing of who knows how many animals illegally. This is a story full of lying politicians, a City that seems not to care about their reputation being tarnished worldwide, and hell bent on killing this dog, an animal that has never bitten anyone, attacked anyone or killed anything.( no matter what you read) Now, as of this week, it has been discovered that Beau,housed in the Citys Animal Control shelter, has lost 20% of his weight in just two months, and may have contracted heartworm due to the shelters reputation of not maintaining control over contagious diseases. No one is allowed to visit Beau, the legal team has had to fight the City to have him seen by an independent Vet and no one knows how often,if, or what he is being fed. Although its hard to believe our Federal government could or would doing anything, one never knows, Please sign the Whitehouse Petition (it requires 100000 signatures by Jan ,25,2015) . If you decide to look in on the Please Help Beau Facebook Page, remember it is hard to follow, because this story goes back now for almost four months and it picks up new followers everyday asking questions that have been answered literally thousands of times. The Facebook Page shows the love and support from animal and dog advocates worldwide , non of which seems to soften the hearts of Mayor Holden, Judge Dedmon and the City Alderman of Dyersburg TN ---- Please share my post with all your friends in order to quickly obtain 100000 signatures and Please Pray for Beau.
