As my current crisis was (and is) unfolding, my external hard - TopicsExpress

As my current crisis was (and is) unfolding, my external hard drive finally crapped out; might yet be a soft fix but otherwise its a locked egg until such time as I can pay to have the data recovered....and buy another drive; I have a copy of it up to June 2012 or so, though all my pics from Asia and collected variously, including last years big scans of family slides and negs last Xmas, are all on it (though I do have an unsorted keydrive of the scans somewhere). A friend has been helping me with trying to fix all that, and this is Day Two. Just lucky it wasnt the computer itself that crapped out I guess..... sigh in the end all thats left is yourself and what you do from here; the disk was a document of me but also a ball and chain as is the net and the computer......and took up a lot of my time working on it, even just sorting pics.... a lot of the work on track edits Ive done was on there, though i still have some of what Ive played since leaving Canada on the computer one of those Buddhistic times/events.... letting go and going on and making new and better. Even songs and recordings of original playing are just things, they are not you.....for every hour Id play thered be 5 hours of other time just converting and track-splitting and uploading and commenting. But enough is online now that I have to get it together to do track-sales and promote myself more (despite my long writings Im self-effacing or self-negating), and enough still on my computer so as to not be completely devastated. But Ill be packing a little black egg in my luggage which one day Ill get hatched....in the meantime Ill have produced so much more that theyre just archival sources; what of my writings thats on there I dont have somewhere else I dont know yet; most of my photographic artwork is on the drive back in Canada though. But for the time just maintaining it and explores takes up, Im better spending my time playing anew and getting better at what I do. Same with writing. So...Im as often before, Ive been bloodied, but not broken. If what they say about if something doesnt kill you it makes you stronger is true, then Im gonna be stronger than ever after all of this. reverbnation/mikecleven/song/18545091-bloodied-but-not-broken-granville That was the first riff I ever went to the zone on, shaking and quivering while jamming on the two chords in my old apartment in North Burnaby one rainy night, on my Rockman; surrendering to the riff and yeah get in a kinda magical state when fully tranced; the shaking and quivering gave way to footwork and struts, letting my body do what it wants instead of holding it in one stiff position....whatever, this track was from a session in spring 2011 played on Granville Squares big plaza overlooking Vancouver Harbour and the CPR yards and is on the punk heavy metal end of things though ultimately jazz. That was a good session, I think maybe this was the first item of a long evening or metal-y raunchiness around that part of downtown Vancouver, I dont have the filename handy to check. and as for my technically-crappy al fresco recordings and mini-amp situation, time is coming Ill having a stage guitar that hasnt seen snowdrifts or tropical heat/humidity and a nice amp..... my stuff will change with that environment, as the instrument will be very different; and the milieu. I so much prefer playing under the open sky..... Likewise being micd, which Im not used to at all.
