As noted, there was a Planning Commission Meeting tonight and I was in attendance. We even had a first timer there who took us up on saying to come to a meeting and he did! He learned a lot and even spoke during public comment to address what he had learned and some opportunities our community has in that capacity. Some big documents we all need to know about are the IEDC Economic Development Assessment that was published earlier this year. Its a lengthy report but it puts into writing the strengths and weaknesses we have within our community. The presentations given by Steve Clark (Community Development) and David Johnston (City Manager) highlighted this report and really emphasized how important it was to look in different directions for income (outside of more single family homes). That report can be found below. Also, the Comprehensive Plan is something we all need to keep a watch on as this is where it seems a lot of frustrations can be answered. Maybe not the way some would like but at least we know concerns are being addressed. That can be found here (maplevalleywa.gov/what-s-happening/2015-comprehensive-plan-update).
