As of 08:00 local time, Gazas MoH updated the death toll to 260 Palestinians, with another 2,000 wounded since the start of so-called Operation Protective Edge. Overnight, Israeli forces began a ground operation inside the occupied Gaza Strip, an invasion being described by the IDF as focused on destroying Hamas tunnel network. One Israeli soldier has been killed, taking the Israeli death toll to 2. Israel is currently attacking targets across Gaza from land, air & sea. According to the army, since the start of the entire operation, 200 command and control centres and 43 Hamas regime buildings have been hit. The former is often a euphemism for someones family home; the latter includes govt ministries. Yesterday, an Israeli missile killed three children playing on the roof of their apartment. At least 45 children have been killed by Israel, according to the last DCI-Palestine update. PCHR says 81% of Palestinian fatalities have been civilians - while Israeli NGO BTselem reported that fewer than 1 in 4 of those killed by the Israeli army so far were involved in combat.
